Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement

2 Goats -- Atonement & Forgiveness

Lev 16:29 “It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you:
Lev 16:30 for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before the LORD.
Lev 16:31 It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls; it is a statute forever.

Lev 23:26 The LORD spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Lev 23:27 “However on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement: it shall be a holy convocation to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Lev 23:28 You shall do no kind of work in that same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your GOD.

Num 29:7 “‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation; and you shall afflict your souls: you shall do no kind of work;

Atonement -
to “cover,” hence expiate, condone, cancel, placate; to “offer,” or “receive a sin offering,” hence, make atonement, appease, propitiate; “effect reconciliation,” (to pay for)

These Goats were a picture of Yeshua our Messiah.
One goat for the LORD and one goat for Azazel.
One goat to be killed/sacrificed and the second goat to
Be taken out to a place of no return. Yeshua has shed His blood so our sins are atoned, removed and taken to a place of no return.

King Yeshua Messiah is our Great High Priest who has made atonement for us forever.

Heb 8:1  Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

Heb 9:6  These preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties,
Heb 9:7  but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people.

Heb 9:13  For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been made common, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh,
Heb 9:14  how much more shall the blood of Messiah, Who through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without blemish to Eloheem, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the Living Eloheem?

Heb 9:22  And with blood almost all things are purified, according to the Torah, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Heb 10:19  Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to pass through the entrance to the holy place by the blood of Yeshua,
Heb 10:20  which He inaugurated for us, a freshly slain and living way through the veil, that is, His flesh,
Heb 10:21  and since we have a great priest over the House of Eloheem,
Heb 10:22  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Mat 27:50  And Yeshua cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.
Mat 27:51  And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

~ The Veil was torn and was a picture of Yeshua opening the door for us to be able to draw near to Eloheem ~
~ The Veil was torn and pictured us being able to enter the holy of holies by the blood of the Lamb ~
~ The Veil was torn and shows us we are righteous in Yeshua and have access to Eloheem and His blessings ~

Act 20:28  "Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of Eloheem which He purchased with His own blood.

Eph 1:7  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

~ There is great power in the blood of the Lamb, Yeshua ~

Lev 18:1  And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Lev 18:2  Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, I am the LORD your GOD.
Lev 18:3  You shall not do according to the doings of the land of Egypt in which you lived; and you shall not do according to the doings of the land of Canaan to which I am bringing you; nor shall you walk in their statutes.
Lev 18:4  You shall do My judgments and you shall keep My statutes, to walk in them; I am the LORD your GOD,
Lev 18:5  and you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them. I am the LORD.

Lev 18:22  And you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a woman; it is a perversion.

Lev 18:30  And you shall keep My charge, so as not to do any of the disgusting customs which were committed before you; and you shall not defile yourselves with them; I am the LORD your GOD.

We belong to our Heavenly Father our Creator and King. Keep yourselves set-apart for Him and His honor and glory. We have been purchased with a high price.

What's a Parashah?

Parashah is a Hebrew word that means portion.

Synagogues around the world read the same parashah each Shabbat. The Torah is divided into 54 weekly portions so that the whole Torah is read annually. Selections from the Haftarah (Prophets) are also read each week, and in Messianic congregations, selections from the Brit Chadashah (New Testament) are included. Holiday selections are also listed for the Feast Days.

Join us on our Shabbat services to study the Parashah.
